HEAVENLY HELP   Leave a comment

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Ever feel that you are alone?  We all do at one time or another, it’s part of being alive.  One of the great things about being a Christian is that we are never alone.  That’s right, no matter what the situation, we are never alone.  Think of it, the bible says:  What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? (1 Cor. 6:19).

That’s right, our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit of God. Remember in biblical times there was a room in the temple called the “Holy of Holies” where the Ark of the Covenant was kept?  It was God’s special dwelling place in the midst of his people.  God lived in the Holy of Holies.

Well today we Christians believe that God lives in us, in our hearts, in the form of the Holy Spirit.  Jesus said that once He was gone, He would leave us a “Comforter”: “If you love me you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father and He will give you another Comforter to be with you forever – the Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept him because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him for he lives with you and will be in you.”  (John 14:15-17).  Sounds to me like, 1.)  We are not alone and 2.) He lives inside of us and 3.) He is with us forever.  This being the case we have to believe that He will not forsake us.

And, if He will not forsake us, it stands to reason that we can put full stock in the following verse in that passage: “So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” (Heb. 13:6).  Look in Romans 8, verse 31:  “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”  If God is for us, who can be against us?  Man, that is a powerful statement, isn’t it?  These are two concrete examples of how we are not alone.

God did not put us on earth without direction, the bible, He did not put us here without an advocate, the Holy Spirit, He did not put us here to be alone.  So the next time you are feeling like the only person on earth, just remember you have the world’s greatest support team standing behind you, beside you and in front of you.  All you have to do is believe that they are there!
